I don’t need to devote full time reviews here, seeing as we’ve already had experience with the Omnia Pro and the Dart Zone Pro Mk2. However, given the new entries, prices, and claims of improvements, I should devote a post to addressing those! I’ll be sure to have posts with even better thoughts later, but seeing as Black Friday is around the corner, I’ve had messages about these blasters. So, here we go!
Omnia Pro Gen3: It REALLY Is Improved!
I’ve been modding the blaster on and off, trying to install a homemade PWM circuit so that I can run the cage at whatever speed I want. As for the blaster itself, though, Dart Zone has vastly improved the response time of the firing system.
Whereas the Gen 1 and Gen 2 blasters had noticeable firing delays, the Gen3 is good enough to compare to any “pro” blaster out there. As an easy way to time it, I simply recorded the blaster firing, and made sure my GoPro was recording at 120fps. Counting frames between trigger presses and darts at that point is simple.
Darts fired from the blaster 9 frames after the trigger was pressed, giving about a 75ms delay. In both burst and full auto, there were ~17 frames between darts, meeting the advertised 7 darts per second almost exactly. That’s so much better than the previous Omnias! I wish they’d waited a little longer and made the Omnia correctly the first time – this one is worth buying (at last), but how many people will do it is another matter. For the moment, see FoamQuest’s video.
Dart velocities still average in the 150s (I averaged 154 in my testing).
Nitroshot Mk2s
There’s not too much to add here, either. You don’t get the holster or the barrel attachment, but you do get the speedloaders, Nitroshot darts, and a low power spring that’s suitable for HvZ. With the base setup, I was averaging 145fps exactly (the advertised fps). With the low power spring, I was hitting in the 110s – once I saw the numbers were lower and consistent, I stopped doing enough darts for averaging and used the blaster in an HvZ game. I had to have some fun in the middle of all this!
For the $45 price, it’s a good deal. With their online discount this week, it’s even better.
